Massimiliano Allegri was born on 11 August 1967 and after his first few kicks of the ball in his home town, his footballing growth came between Cuoiopelli and, indeed, Livorno. He made his Serie A debut with Pisa in June 1989, against AC Milan, before then moving to Pavia. Then for Pescara, at the beginning of the 90s, he was one of the standout players in their return to the top division with 12 goals in 31 appearances in the 1992/93 Serie A season. He then went to Cagliari where he had two good seasons and made his UEFA Cup debut, before new experiences between Serie B and Serie A with Perugia, Padova, Napoli, Pescara and Pistoiese. He ended his professional career in the 2002/03 season at Aglianese, in Serie C2.
Massimiliano Allegri's managerial career began with the team he finished his player career with, Aglianese. After one good year with the Tuscans in C2, he climbed the leagues with SPAL, Grosseto and Sassuolo. In 2007/08, he led the Neroverdi to their first promotion to Serie B in their history, also winning the Serie C1 Supercup. His top work in Emilia meant he got a call from Cagliari, who he coached for two seasons in Serie A, achieving a ninth-place finish in 2008/09. In 2010, he then joined AC Milan, which immediately went well since he led us to our 18th Scudetto, our first one in seven years. It then got better and better with our Supercup triumph over Inter in Beijing in August 2011. He then stayed with AC Milan for 178 matches, which worked out to around three and a half seasons, keeping Champions League football the whole time, with our best record being the quarter-finals in 2011/12. In Summer 2014, he signed with Juventus, who he led to five consecutive Scudettos between 2014 and 2019, also getting four Coppa Italia, two Supercups, and two Champions League finals, thus becoming the first manager to win Serie A five years running. After two seasons off, he went back to Juventus in summer 2021, struggling in the league this time, but still leading the Bianconeri to victory in the Coppa Italia, as well as reaching a Europa League semi-final. On 30 May 2025, he is back with AC Milan, eleven years from his last time here.
