MILANELLO - Riccardo Saponara spoke exclusively to Milan Channel. This is what he had to say:
"We had started quite well but then when we conceded the two goals we were not able to react the way we wanted to and we let ourselves go a little. We struggled. We must go back to the first 20 minutes of the first half, we must improve and I am convinced that this defeat will be a valuable lesson.
We have to try to analyse the errors and keep working hard, despite yesterday's defeat. We are still improving as a team until we reach a high level of consistency both in terms of play but also in terms of ideas, without those lapses that affected us yesterday.
We have to keep a cool head when looking at our errors, we have to work hard to regain that belief we had in the first few games, trying to apply that from the very start of the game. We have to think about ourselves and so we have to analyse the game as a group then the coach will decide. I will continue doing my best and trying to get better.
When we changed the set-up I thought I was coming off but instead I stayed on, I tried to do my best in a position that is not my usual one. Towards the end of the match I was struggling with my fitness.
Sampdoria are a tough teams and they will make the most of playing at home. They will battle hard and will be supported by their fans, we have to go there with plenty of spirit. Physically it will be difficult but if we go there ans show what we can do then we can do well. The game against San Lorenzo is a good opportunity for those who play less to put a bit of pressure on the coach."
