ON THIS DAY: IMPORTANT WINS IN EUROPE

MILAN – Milan have achieved some important results in Europe on this day, the 24th of October, in recent years.

24th October 2000: Milan win 2-0 at the Inonu stadium in Istanbul against Besiktas and in doing so qualify for the 2nd Group Stage of the 2000-2001 edition of the Champions League. The goals were scored by Shevchenko and Josè Mari.

24th October 2007: Milan bounce back from a defeat in Serie A and lay the foundations for qualification to the last 16 stage of the Champions League by beating Shakhtar Donetsk 4-1 at the San Siro. Alberto Gilardino and Clarence Seedorf scored two goals each.

FIORENTINA WIN IN EUROPA LEAGUE VERSUS PAOK

MILAN - Fiorentina, the rossoneri’s opponents this Sunday in Serie A, won away to PAOK 1-0 earlier this evening thanks to a 38th minute goal by Vargas. It was the Viola’s third group stage match of this season’s edition of the Europa League and it was also their third win of the competition meaning they are on maximum points in Group K.
