CASSANO: "I started to live again against Fiorentina
MILAN - "After the heart operation I was optimistic, but after seeing how athletes die suddenly in the field such as Bovolenta and Morosini and I wanted to give up." This is what Antonio Cassano told the Chi magazine which will be out tomorrow. "I seemed incapable of any judgement. My wife was worried. I stared at the wall, sitting on my couch. I wanted to do away with football. I said: 'I will give up. Guys, I am playing with my life here. When I was informed that I could go back and play, I cried," said the Milan striker.
Cassano continued: "I will never forget the comeback. Milan-Fiorentina, the coach Massimiliano Allegri told me: 'Get ready.' My legs were shaking like never before. Not even when I debuted in Serie A. I was starting to live. I was the happiest man in the world." Looking ahead to the European Championships, he added: "Coach Cesare Prandelli has always given me confidence, I never let go. Now we are looking ahead to the European Championships and I am ready. Hopefully we will do well."
