Milanello, 8 April 2011- Milan Golf Tour, the traditional charity golf tournament organised by Milan Foundation on the most prestigous lawns of Italy, arrived to its 7th edition. The event was presented at Milanello by Milan Foundation president Adriano Galliani and the foundation’s advisor and the creator of Milan Golf Tour, Daniele Massaro. Also present was Massimo Massini, the Area Manager Italy & States of former Yugoslavian Republic of Emirates, representing the tournament’s main sponsor. The press conference was conducted by Valerio Staffelli, a big Milan supporter and golf fan. Golf champion Matteo Manassero, famous partly thanks to his triumph at the Castellò Masters tournament in 2010 at the tender age of 17, was invited as special guest.
The regular season of the 2011 edition of Milan Golf Tour will be held at four locations with a grand final taking place in September. The tournament begins at the Golf Club Carimate on April 11; it will continue at the Golf Club Le Rovedine on May 16 before arriving at the Circolo Golf Villa D’Este on May 30 and finishing at the Golf Club Bergamo L’Albenza on June 13. The four finalists and the winner of the Magic Golf Cup, in which also a Milan player will participate, will fight it out in the final with its location to be revealed at the end of the regular season.
“We have reached the 7th edition of the Milan Golf Tour. This is an important achievement, which demonstrates how much effort we’re putting in this project”, said Adriano Galliani, the president of Milan Foundation. “A very dynamic community has been formed around Milan Foundation with old friends and partner companies. This community identifies itself with the values our non-profit organisation represents and supports us in lots of other activities and fund raising. Special thanks go to Emirates, the main sponsor of this this year’s edition”.
“Emirates is glad to offer its contribution to this important project of Milan Foundation and we thank its president, Adriano Galliani, for getting us involved”, said Massimo Massini, the Area Manager Italy & States of former Yugoslavian Republic of Emirates. Apart from sporting values, it’s the great solidarity that binds us to Milan, with whom we hope to achieve lots of important goals together”.
Like in past years, also this time all of the proceeds will benefit Milan Foundation. In particular, the fund raised will be used to complete one of the programmes of the Alice for Children project, with the construction of a new home for 24 orphans from the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, as well as bearing the medical-sanitary expenses of further 150 children hosted at Alice Village in the slum of Kariobangi. The project includes the organisation of the first championship of the slums, a football tournament with sixteen teams participating, all coming from the shantytown of the Kenyan capital.
Plenty of familiar faces will compete on the green: apart from Valerio Staffelli, former Rossoneri stars Mauro Tassotti, Roberto Donadoni, Stefano Nava and Marco Simone will be present at this year’s Milan Golf Tour, after taking part in past editions.
The following companies will take part in the 7th edition: Emirates, Atahotels, Banca Generali, Breitling, Erg, la Collina dei Ciliegi, Par 72, Parmacotto, Publitalia ‘80, Radio Italia, Ricoh, Sun Devices System. Il Giornale and Il Mondo del Golf will follow the event as media partners. Also, the Sports and Youth Department of the Region of Lombardy offered its support.
