The red and black manager, Vincenzo Montella and the sports director Rocco Maiorino had their say after the game
After the match at the Juventus Stadium, Vincenzo Montella spoke to Milan TV commenting on the game which saw the Rossoneri losing at the death.
"It's a shame because we are missing a point which in the end could decide the race for Europe: I hope it will affect other teams and not us. The boys deserved more, they played with great personality and at a certain moment, we could have taken the lead. It's a pity for what happened [the penalty to Juve, ed.] and for how it happened. Tonight sleeping won't be easy, but this game tells us that we are a great group: brilliant teamwork. If we keep united and positive, we'll surely make it into Europe".
"We started the game with great personality, keeping a short distance between the lines. Our goal comes from a quality vertical pass and in the second half, the match was more balanced. We missed the last pass two or three times when on the counterattack, we could have scored the goal for 2-1 and that would have been a jackpot. We deserved to take home one point, it would not have been a scandal".
"I didn't see anything from the dugout, on TV yes, I saw something. After the match, I politely asked the referee to explain to me what happened: he said it was his choice to give the penalty, maybe it was the wrong decision. It was a crucial match for us and a crucial point. I would prefer more dialogue with the referees, seriously. I want to apologise on behalf of the team for their reaction after the match, but the boys did not cross the line".
"We played a fine game against a really strong opponent, Juve put in all the energy as if it was a Cup final and we must be proud of this: it means they fear us, we proved we can keep up with them. We were dangerous and made them suffer. Let's focus on ourselves, from now on we have to do something important".
"Romagnoli didn't play left back, in the build-up he played centre-left like has already done with the national team. Ocampos played really well, especially when we were defending: he can handle 40-50 metres and at the moment he's in front of Lapadula. Mati Fernandez? He's fine but he hasn't trained with consistency in a month or so".
"I'm not worried, against Genoa we will have a competitive team all the same. Sosa played a great game also tonight. I really believed we could win it, especially in the second half: it's a pity, we'll wait until next season".
Also Rocco Maiorino was interviewed by Milan TV after the final whistle: "We're disappointed, not only because we didn't manage to take home one point but because we tried to win it. We're a rock solid team, which never gives up in the face of difficulties and today we proved it". The sports director had his say on tonight's refereeing: "We accept Massa's decisions as we always do. We have to think about our next game". Maiorino then spoke about the players' feelings and the atmosphere in the locker room after the defeat: "The boys were disappointed because we knew we could take home at least a point, but this match is now in the past. Our mind goes to the clash against Genoa". On Gigio Donnarumma's positive performance once again: "It's not a surprise anymore, it's the reality of things. He played really a brilliant match as well as his teammates. The team is improving match after match, unfortunately, you can't always win but this is football".
