HARD-FOUGHT GAME BUT IT'S ONLY 1-1 IN FRIULI

Suso’s stunning goal and Calabria’s sent-off sum up the draw against Udinese

Despite the frustrating draw at the Dancia Arena, the Red and Blacks continue their unbeaten run in 2018 and complete their fifth Serie A match in a row winning points. Right from the start, the Rossoneri dominated the opposition and created clear-cut opportunities. Suso’s goal in the 9th minute was simply a masterpiece. The Spain international was prompted by coach Gattuso this week to score more goals, and he responded immediately netting his sixth of the season. The match seemed under control and the boys kept creating chances but Calabria’s sent-off with more than 20 minutes to go on the clock changed the stream of the game. Udinese pushed forward and found the equaliser after an unlucky Donnarumma saw the ball bouncing on his head following an initial deflection from Bonucci. AC Milan take home only one point from Friuli and are now 8th, overtaken by Atalanta but still just 3 points away from 6th place Sampdoria. Our next Serie A match is on Saturday 10, at 3.00 PM, when the Red and Blacks have the chance to bounce back against SPAL and climb back up in the table.

THE MATCH REPORT
AC Milan play in a 4-3-3 system with both Calabria (on the left) and Abate (on the right) in defence and André Silva as the centre-forward. Coach Gattuso’s men start on the front foot and already in the 2’, Bonaventura meets a cross from the right but gets only a weak shot that is denied by Bizzarri. Just a few minutes later, Suso controls the ball, spins around to free up and fires from far outside the box scoring a stunning goal. In the 24’, André Silva has the chance to make it two but he doesn’t hit the ball properly with a header. The second half is underway and the Portuguese striker has another opportunity but his volley ends just over the bar. The stream of the match changes as Calabria receives a second yellow card and is sent-off in the 69’. Donnarumma makes fantastic saves in the 70’ and 75’ but is unlucky when a ball deflected by Bonucci hits his head and goes in. Despite the hosts’ equaliser and being down to ten men, the Rossoneri push forward and almost manage to score in the 90’ through Kalinic’s header, which ends just over the upright. At the end, it’s 1-1 in Friuli.
