LAZIO V AC MILAN: POST-MATCH REACTIONS FROM GATTUSO AND BIGLIA

The midfielder joined the Rossoneri tactician in analysing Tuesday's goalless draw

Following Tuesday’s 0-0 draw away to Lazio in the first leg of our Coppa Italia semi-final, Rino Gattuso gave his post-match verdict during a press conference at the Olimpico. This is what he had to say:

THE SCORELINE

“It’s a bit of a daft result for us because any goal for Lazio will be worth double in the second leg. We’ll need to pay close attention. Obviously, we could’ve done better however, it’s still a good result considering that we didn’t concede against a team that has key players up front.”

THE GAME ITSELF

“Lazio waited for us before then attacking on the break and putting us in difficulty. We were lacking on a technical level tonight, making mistakes on the few occasions that we broke free from their pressure. Lazio were better than us, although it’s also true that they didn’t create any real killer-ball chances. Defensively, I really liked how the team played, but it’s a step back technically. Simone (Inzaghi) and I know each other well, perhaps it’s just a coincidence that these matches keep finishing 0-0. We’ll see what happens in the second leg.”

KESSIE

“He’s couldn’t run and asked to be taken off.”

SUSO

“Neither Suso or anyone in the entire team put in a good technical performance tonight. We made a lot of mistakes, failing in our build-up play and looking for Piatek with long balls.”

In addition to the Coach’s comments, Lucas Biglia also discussed Tuesday’s draw with Milan TV:

I’m really proud to have made my 50th appearance in a Milan shirt. It was important not to lose today, even if 0-0 was not the result that we wanted. They’re a team with a lot of attacking potential, and we did well. This match remains in the balance and we’ll have all to play for at home. The fans’ passion will be important. We now need to focus on Saturday’s match against Sassuolo, looking to continue on our path for Champions League qualification. My fitness? It’s improving.
