FRANCE EDGE OUT IRELAND, WINS ALSO FOR ASTER AND ISMA

Theo, Giroud and Maignan started in Dublin in the Transalpine's win

Two games, two wins. After a disappointing World Cup in Qatar, France have got back to business in fine fashion; first, they beat the Netherlands 4-0 a few days ago, and last night narrowly edged out the Republic of Ireland 1-0 at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, thanks to Pavard's goal. All three Rossoneri started for Deschamps' side: Giroud played for 65 minutes, before being replaced by Diaby, while Theo Hernández and Maignan played the full 90. Mike, in particular, made a crucial contribution with a vital save from Collins on the 90th minute, diving instinctively to keep out the Irish defender's header and safeguard the three points.

Also on Monday evening duty was Algerian Ismaël Bennacer, who started and played 64 minutes before being substituted by Bentaleb. The Algerians got their fourth win in four games (1-0, goal by Bounedjah) in their 2024 African Cup of Nations qualification campaign. Aster Vranckx, again captain for Belgium U21s, was also victorious as he ended a training camp in San Pedro del Pinatar with a 3-2 friendly win over Japan.
