The much-anticipated big match between the frontrunners in Serie A Femminile went the way of Juventus who won 4-0 thanks to goals from Bonansea, Hurtig, Stašková and Caruso. It was a tough result for AC Milan but a fair one considering the superiority displayed by the opponents. The Rossonere gave everything away at the reigning champions and current league leaders but were made to pay the price for difficult moments at the start and end of the match which ultimately sealed the result. The Bianconere were the stronger and more clinical side. The fixture at Vinovo looked to be a clash for the Scudetto but it now looks to be a question of mathematics now that a six-point gap has emerged after Juventus won both matches between the top two. There are seven league matches left however and full effort will be required to defend second place and Champions League qualification. Next up will be Coppa Italia action with the first leg of the derby semi-final kicking off at 14:30 CET on Sunday 14th March and it’s a big opportunity to bounce back from the disappointment of today.

MATCH REPORT
The Bianconere started strongly with the Rossonere lacking some focus. After giving up a counterattack and allowing Girelli to go just wide with a free header, Milan were made to pay in the eighth minute with Hurtig knocking the ball down for Bonansea to finish from close range. In the 15th minute, another chance fell for Bonansea but her left-foot shot lacked accuracy. The reaction was there but the chances didn’t follow for the visitors whereas the opposition looked dangerous with every attack. In the 27th minute. Hurtig fired a shot on goal which Korenčiová got a hand to but she was unable to keep it out and deny Juventus a second goal. Milan finished the half with some momentum as Giacinti fired just over from the edge of the box in the 35th minute before Grimshaw found the net in the 43rd minute from a corner but the goal was disallowed for a Dowie foul on Giuliani.
At the start of the second half, the tempo dropped. Hurtig had a chance to score her second but failed to hit the target in the 50th minute. Juve then looked to control the game more but Milan kept fighting to make things happen and almost found a way back into it in the 59th minute. Vero played the ball up to Giacinti who hit it on the turn but only to be denied by Giuliani who made a miraculous save with her feet. Substitutions then made an impact with Zamanian getting an assist in the 83rd minute with her first touch as she set up Stašková in front of goal. The white flag then went up for the Diavolo with Korenčiová having to save from Caruso in the 89th minute but Caruso then won out in stoppage time at the second time of asking with a deflected effort that struck Rizza on its way into the net.
