Again on their travels, after the weekend away loss to Pomigliano, Coach Ganz's side started their Coppa Italia campaign in perfect fashion by beating Ternana 2-0, thanks to goals from Mesjasz in the first half and Piemonte after the break. Despite making several changes and use of the squad, it was a positive and reassuring performance by the Rossonere, who kept their competitiveness high and risked very little against a side who are featuring well in this year's Serie B.
The cup competition, that saw AC Milan exit in the semi-finals to Juventus last year, has started off on the right foot this season. Drawn into a mini-group F with Lazio and Ternana, the Rossonere join the Biancocelesti on three points, and face them next on 8 January. There is now a long break for the team, before returning to league action on Saturday 19 November against Como, giving the girls just over two weeks to catch their breath and build their rhythm back up ahead of an intense part of the season.

THE MATCH
Coach Ganz decided to make several changes to the starting line-up with Babb in goal, Carage in a defensive trio, and Mascarello and Vigilucci in midfield. The Rossonere set the tone of the game early on and within ten minutes were already ahead: a corner by Carage was parried away by the home goalkeeper but Gosia reacted excellently to head home and make it 1-0. Ternana were unable to find the space to build anything and get themselves going, with Babb practically a spectator. AC Milan took full control of possession and threatened on several occasions to double their lead. Vigilucci, after 25 minutes, went particularly close, again from open play after a corner, as did Mascarello with a left-footed strike three minutes later. The first half ended with the away side in complete control.
Shortly after the restart the second goal came, courtesy of Martina Piemonte, who made the most of a mix-up between the keeper and defender, to slot home for 2-0. After doubling their lead, the Rossonere were able to manage the game with Ternana struggling to make themselves dangerous. Angelica Soffia tried her luck on two occasions to make it 3-0: her first attempt was off-target, while her second was blocked by the defence after beautifully bringing down the ball. Nothing else of note arrived after that and the referee blew the final whistle to give AC Milan the win.
