THE ROSSONERE COME FROM BEHIND AGAINST SAMPDORIA: 3-1

Dompig bags brace and Rubio Ávila scores first goal, AC Milan reacts and returns to winning ways on the road

A convincing win to react and restart. Mister Corti's Rossonere rallied against Sampdoria on Matchday 17 of the Women's Serie A and, returned to winning ways after a long drought. At the La Sciorba Stadium, a brace from Chanté Dompig and, in between, Silvia Rubio Ávila's first goal in an AC Milan shirt, in which she responded to Tarenzi's opener: 3-1 the final score. A game dominated in many aspects, from possession to chances, for three deservedly earned points that also brought parity to the table with today's rivals. Alongside the three goals, we must also add the woodwork struck by Marinelli and Mascarello between the two halves.

Dispersing the disappointment from Sassuolo was crucial, and the field provided the desired confirmation. Finding new stimuli and motivations will be the goal to continue achieving satisfaction. The Dompig-Rubio duo was the highlight of the day: besides the goals, the Spanish player's assist for the French and her involvement in the 2-1 goal. Kamila Dubcová also stood out, providing another key pass. The result achieved in the ninety - and more - minutes of play away against Sampdoria interrupted a streak of seven consecutive away matches without success in the tournament and should provide momentum for the upcoming fixtures. Starting with the crucial one scheduled for the upcoming weekend, when the Derby against Inter will take place at the PUMA House of Football. Keep going, girls!

MATCH REPORT
Nadim
began the match with a soft arc on a free-kick in the 7’, saved by Tampieri. Sampdoria responded and broke the deadlock on their first chance: in the 9th minute, Taty stretched to Tarenzi who controlled and beat Giuliani from close range. The Rossonere reacted with Grimshaw's curled shot (17') and Guagni's aerial attempt (18'), both still repelled by the Blucerchiati's goalkeeper. In the 19th minute, Marinelli hit the crossbar - again with a header - on Guagni's assist, while shortly after Giordano curled the left-footed shot into the corner, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The deserved equaliser came in the 31’: after Rubio's shot was blocked, Dompig pounced on the loose ball and with a touch, slotted it past Tampieri. With the balance restored, AC Milan managed the game without sinking further, ending 1-1 at halftime.

Sampdoria threatened with two shots from Schatzer early in the second half, both saved by Giuliani. However, the red and black team increased the intensity and attacked with determination. Dubcová's assist in the 53’ found a trailing Rubio Ávila, and with a first-time shot, she surprised Tampieri, scoring the second to make it 1-2. AC Milan didn't stop and instead accelerated: Rubio's pinpoint cross was met by Dompig's header for AC Milan's third goal in the 56’. The third goal sealed the deal, and two minutes later Grimshaw attempted to extend the lead but shot weakly from a good position. Sampdoria couldn't muster the energy to get back into the game, and AC Milan controlled it. In the 89th minute, Mascarello tried her luck from long range, hitting the crossbar. It was the last excitement as the game ended 1-3!
