ROSSONERE DEFEATED IN ROME

The journey in the Women's Coppa Italia ends in the semifinals, as the reigning champions of Italy win 5-2

The adventure in the Women's Coppa Italia for AC Milan concludes just shy of the final, defeated in the return leg of the semifinals by Roma with a scoreline of 5-2. The fate of the double confrontation against the league leaders - poised for another Scudetto triumph this season - was already sealed after last week's first leg at the PUMA House of Football. On a rainy Roman afternoon, the Giallorosse settled the contest with two goals within the first half-hour. After the temporary 3-0 lead by Roma, the Rossonere mounted a comeback, with Ijeh scoring AC Milan's first goal and Laurent netting her fifth of the season before two more goals for Roma in injury time.

Thus, it will be Roma who progresses to the final against Fiorentina. AC Milan bid farewell to a competition where they showcased some of the season's finest moments, with the semifinal defeat appearing harsh, especially considering the first leg where the result was decided only by two late goals. Nevertheless, it's worth noting how the Rossonere honoured their commitment by displaying courage and generosity throughout the full 90 minutes. With the Coppa Italia chapter closed, attention now turns to the league. The Rossonere will return to action on Sunday 24 March, at 12:30 CET, facing Pomigliano at the PUMA House of Football.

MATCH REPORT
The Rossonere took to the field with an attacking setup, but it was Roma who dominated early on, opening the scoring in the 8th minute with an unstoppable curling shot from Haavi that left Babb with no chance. The Giallorosse's lead inevitably shifted the dynamics of the match, though Milan attempted to respond, Roma's defence offered little space, and they even came close to doubling their lead in the 20th minute with a shot from Pilgrim hitting the crossbar. The second goal came in the 31st minute, courtesy of Di Guglielmo's left-footed strike following her solo effort. In the remainder of the first half, Roma hit the woodwork again - this time with Greggi - and Grimshaw's attempt from distance in the 43rd minute sailed over Korpela's goal.

The second half started with two changes for the Rossonere: Marinelli and Laurent came on, with the latter immediately posing a threat, testing the Roma goalkeeper with a difficult save. Dompig also tried her luck in the 63rd minute, but despite Milan's best efforts, Roma extended their lead to 3-0 through Giugliano's well-placed shot. However, Corti's team didn't give up and continued to push forward, eventually finding the back of the net twice in quick succession. In the 80th minute, Ijeh scored after being set up by Mesjasz, and then Laurent nodded in a corner from Mascarello in the 85th minute. With AC Milan pushing forward in search of an equalizer - Ijeh came close again in the 88th minute with a curling effort - Roma re-established their three-goal advantage in injury time through Viens and Feiersinger. The match ended 5-2.
