An undeserved defeat, which was not needed. The team needed to show consistency after a promising home win against Juventus, but against Cagliari at the Aseminello, we did not get the result we were hoping for. 2-1 was the final score: the Sardinians went 2-0 up after a goal from Conti and Desogus' penalty, Rossi's goal in the second half only made the result slightly less bitter. An undeserved defeat, as we have already mentioned, because Giunti's Rossoneri created so many opportunities over the 90 minutes. The Rossoneri were undoubtedly wasteful in front of goal but were also unlucky. Coach Giunti and his deputy were also dismissed in the final minutes of the match, following an episode involving Coubis and Manca, after the Rossoneri defender was allegedly struck by Manca who was then avoided any punishment from the referee. The team will be back on the pitch on saturday against SPAL with a chance to get back on track

MATCH REPORT
The first half hour of the game was one way traffic for the Rossoneri, thanks to the high pressure and Cagliari struggling to deal with AC Milan's pressing. Tolomello's shot in the first minute was cleared by the defence, then Roback had a go in the 10th minute with a right-footed shot which went high. Emil came again in the 14th minute with a low shot being saved D'Aniello, then Alesi and Capone tried their luck from the distance, both failing to find the target. The best chance came again for Roback in the 42nd minute: right-footed control and a lightning fast left-footed shot that went inches wide of the keeper's right-hand post. At the beginning of the second half, the hosts took a suprising lead: Conti's free-kick from the edge of the box beating Desplanches. There was an immediate reaction from Alesi, Di Gesù and, above all, El Hilali, who hit a right-footed shot past the post. But then in the 64th minute Cagliari doubled their lead with a penalty kick awarded for Bosisio's handball: Desplanches went the right way, but failed to get a hand on Desogus' shot, 2-0 Cagliari. The Rossoneri's momentum stuttered, but did not fade completely, as in the 86th minute, Capone saw his left footed strike blocked a few metres from the goal line. Also in the second half, Rossi's right-footed shot from distance deflected off Coubis and the rossonero netted his first goal in the championship, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
