DERBY DEFEAT FOR THE PRIMAVERA: INTER WIN 2-1

Another goal from Nasti isn't enough as the Rossoneri's four-game winning run comes to an end

After four consecutive victories, AC Milan Primavera’s winning run came to an end today, with Inter running out 2-1 winners following an even and hard-fought Derby. Ultimately, Chivu’s Nerazzurri were more clinical than the Rossoneri, who, despite giving everything, didn’t display as much precision as their counterparts. Marco Nasti bagged his sixth goal in his last five games, but it wasn’t enough for Coach Giunti’s team, who hit the bar through Bosisio in the closing stages and didn’t make the most of their chances. This is something they’ll particularly rue, especially given they had more than their opponents.

It's a tough result to take, but it doesn’t erase the progress that the Diavolo have made in recent months. The league is still tight and there’s still all to play for, with the team looking to definitively move away from the lower end of the table and continue to pursue their playoff dream. There will be plenty of opportunities to bounce back, starting from the next two fixtures, both of which will be on the road: first, the Rossoneri will face Genoa at 11:00 CET on Saturday; then, they’ll come up against Bologna at 15:00 CET on Wednesday 9 February (rearranged matchday 14 fixture).

MATCH REPORT
There were four changes to the side that played and beat Empoli on Saturday. With Paolo Maldini and Stefano Pioli watching on in the stands, the game started off at a high pace, even if chances were at a premium. Indeed, the only real thing to note early on was promising pieces of play from Nasti and Traorè. The first big chance of the match fell to AC Milan in the 21st minute, when Nasti received the ball from Traorè but was denied by an alert Rovida. However, it was Inter who opened the scoring four minutes later: Casadei headed home Carboni’s free kick to give the guests the lead (25’). The Rossoneri responded immediately, with Nasti bagging for the fifth consecutive match considering both the Primavera 1 division and the Youth League.

There were more chances after the restart. In the 54th minute, Matjaz hit the bar for Inter, while AC Milan came close to making it 2-1 on the hour mark as Nasti forced Rovida into a difficult stop. Five minutes later, Robotti surged forward but wasn’t able to find a finish. As had been the case in the first half, Inter struck just as AC Milan were enjoying their best spell. In the 73rd minute, Jurgens beat Stanga to the ball and picked out Peschetola, who converted from close range. The Diavolo didn’t give up: with 77 minutes on the clock, a cross from Alesi, on as a substitute, was met by Bosisio, whose header came off the woodwork. AC Milan poured forward late as they looked for an equaliser, but the scoreline didn’t change: Inter emerged victorious.
