MEN'S PRIMAVERA ON THE RISE

More positive signs from Coach Renna's group

Looking back at Saturday's match, controlled confidently for over an hour before letting a two-goal lead slip and conceding the equaliser, the result seems disappointing. But this derby was yet another sign of Coach Renna and his Primavera side's excellent season. It once again showed the development of several players in what is one of the youngest squads in the Primavera 1 league.

Even against Inter, our team once again featured several young players, both in the starting XI and on the bench, with players born between 2008 and 2009. One standout story belongs to Pietro Faccioli, who made a last-minute debut after Bianchi picked up an injury during the warm-up. He went on to make a real impact and produced a crucial save late in the game. Another example, among the 2009-born players, is Mattia Angelicchio, who scored a fine goal against league leaders Fiorentina.

It's not just the 'regulars' in the squad or the key figures in Coach Renna's rotation, who are stepping up. In the derby, after Lontani scored his tenth goal of the season, Perera celebrated his first goal. The impact of players who joined the group during the season after starting out in lower age categories such as the Under-18s or Under-17s have also had an important impact. This AC Milan team is thriving because it consistently gets the best out of every player, even in the most demanding fixtures.

An aspect not to be underestimated in an incredibly balanced and competitive league, where two consecutive positive results can significantly impact the standings. A largely positive January, with the only setbacks coming against Parma in the Cup and Torino, brought Renna’s Rossoneri back into contention for the Playoff places. After 22 matchdays already in the books, there were just 11 points separating league leaders Fiorentina and 16th-placed Sassuolo. A season still very much to be played, then, and one in which we can have our say. Come on, lads!
