AN EXCELLENT ROSSONERI END TO THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK

Donnarumma, Kjær and Dalot play the full match, 86 minutes for Krunić, Ibra and Kalulu remian on the bench

Wednesday night's matches brought an end to the latest international break, the last one of the season. An almost perfect evening for the Rossoneri: five wins and one defeat.

On Matchday three of Word Cup 2022 qualifying, Donnarumma defended the Italian goal successfully, keeping what is now his fifth clean sheet in a row for the national team. In the 2-0 win in Vilnius, the home of Lithuania, Gigio came up with a decisive save on Eliosius in the 73rd minute, when the score was only 1-0.

There was an even clearer margin of victory for Kjær and Denmark, who won 4-0 away in Vienna against Austria: Simon, as captain, led the team from the beginning to the end of the match. Both Italy (Group C) and Denmark (Group F) are top of their groups with maximum points. On the other hand, Krunić's Bosnia and Herzegovina did not perform so well. In Sarajevo, France won 1-0, with Rade starting the match before being replaced in the 86th minute. An uphill start for the Gialloblù, who sit on just one point in the standings.

Elsehwere, Zlatan Ibrahimović was on the bench in Sweden's 1-0 friendly win over Estonia and the same goes for Pierre Kalulu in France's 2-0 win over Iceland, a result that saw Les Bleus qualify for the quarterfinals of the U21 European Championship. In the same competition, Diogo Dalot took part in all 93 minutes of Switzerland 0-3 Portugal, also qualifying for the knockout phase - where the Azzurrini pair of Gabbia and Tonali await him – which is scheduled from 31 May to 6 June in Hungary and Slovenia.
