France are still waiting for their first victory in this edition of the UEFA Nations League as they lost 1-0 to Croatia last night at the Stade de France in Paris. Mike Maignan returned to the home side's starting line-up, just as he did in the previous game against the Croats. The deciding goal came in the fifth minute with Modrić slotting home from the penalty spot; Maignan got a hand to it but it wasn't enough. In the second half, it was mostly France who searched for an equaliser, but Mike had to be alert to keep out Budimir and Majer early on. Instead, Theo Hernández was rested.
With this defeat, France have lost further ground on those above them and are now mathematically out of the running for top spot, with two matches remaining. In the other game in Group 1, Denmark beat Austria 2-0 and top the group on nine points, whilst France remain bottom with only two points.
