AC Milan recorded an important victory this evening, meaning they are now just one step away from the Europa League group stage. In the play-off round, the Rossoneri will face Portuguese side Rio Ave, who will no doubt prove to be tough opponents. However, before we think about our match in Portugal, we’ve decided to reflect on tonight’s victory over Bodø/Glimt at San Siro through eight pieces of trivia. Here they are:
- AC Milan have gone 16 matches without defeat in all competitions (W12, D4) for the first time since November 2008, back when Carlo Ancelotti was in the dugout.
- This evening, the Rossoneri conceded a goal for the first time in the preliminary stages of the Europa League after previously keeping the opposition out for 465 minutes. The first goal came following the 49th shot at AC Milan’s goal.
- AC Milan have won each of the six matches they’ve played in the preliminary stages of the Europa League, scoring 15 goals and conceding just twice in the process.
- Taking into account the Europa League and Champions League, the Rossoneri have scored for nine consecutive matches in Europe for the first time since September 2009, when they found the net against Marseilles.
- Taking into account all competitions, Lorenzo Colombo is the youngest AC Milan player (18 years and 200 days) to score for the Club since M’baye Niang found the net against Reggina in the Coppa Italia in December 2012.
- Hakan Çalhanoğlu has become the first AC Milan player to score more than one goal in a single game in Europe since André Silva bagged a hat-trick against Austria Vienna in the Europa League in September 2017.
- Taking into account all competitions, the Turk scored his second brace for AC Milan this evening, following on from the two goals he bagged against Torino in Serie A in January.
- Hakan Çalhanoğlu has been involved in six goals (three goals, three assists) in the four matches he’s played in the preliminary stages of the Europa League. He’s contributed to five (three goals, two assists) against Shamrock Rovers and Bodø/Glimt this season alone.
