WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND, INTER v AC MILAN PREVIEW

The Derby for a spot on the podium: all about the match that will wrap up the Rossonere's season

The two teams share the same goal: to get the three points and make the podium in third place in the table, and thus end the season in the best possible way. For the Rossoneri, winning the Derby would also mean restoring balance to the season's tally of derbies and giving their fans one last - and prestigious - satisfaction. On the eve of the fixture, scheduled for Saturday 27 May at 14:30 CEST, we analyse all the details ahead of the encounter at the 'Ernesto Breda' stadium with our Match Preview.

LATEST FROM THE PUMA HOUSE OF FOOTBALL
The Rossoneri, returning to the pitch after the rest period, arrive at the match on the strength of four consecutive positive results, a positive streak that began in the first derby of the Championship round - won 3-1 at home. In order to finish third in the standings, Maurizio Ganz's side will only need a draw: a scoreline that would propel AC Milan to 42 points, exactly the same as Fiorentina but with an advantage in head to head and in goal difference. It is forbidden to be satisfied, however, because the "Stracittadina" always puts more than just points at stake. And so, after having suffered two defeats in the first part of the season, the Rossoneri want to give continuity to the most recent success over the Nerazzurri and find a win in the next match to bring the 'series' to 2-2. Worth mentioning is the return of Asllani, Nouwen and Guagni, all available for the match. No absence due to suspension.

Here is the Rossonere squad list: Beka, Cazzioli, Fedele, Giuliani; Carage, Fusetti, Guagni, Nouwen, Soffia, Thrige; Adami, Bahlouli, K. Dubcová, Grimshaw, Mascarello, Vigilucci; Asllani, Bergamaschi, Dompig, M. Dubcová, Sevenius, Thomas.

Coach Ganz said on the eve of the match: "It will be an important derby for both sides. We are approaching a match that will close out our season and so we will try to be ready to end it in the best possible way".

LATEST FROM INTER
Rita Guarino's Nerazzurre are fresh from defeat - suffered in the dying minutes - on the field of top-of-the-table Roma in the last matchday of the championship. Prior to the most recent knockout, however, had come the comprehensive win (4-0) over Fiorentina and the draw against Juventus (2-2). All in all, that over the Viola was the only positive exploit in this Championship Round for Inter, who still retain the possibility to take third place in the podium. To do so, the Nerazzurre will rely on the form of the best scorer - their own and of the entire Women's Serie A - Tabita Chawinga, who has collected five goals in the three matches. There will also be no absence due to suspension for Inter.

"A victory in the Derby would allow us to achieve our season objectives, which were certainly not Champions League qualification but to move closer to the top two in the standings," stressed Coach Guarino on the side of Roma v Inter. "It would be important to reach third place as a target for growth, even if it does not qualify for European tournaments".

PRE-MATCH
This will be Derby number 14 between Inter and AC Milan in all competitions: the balance so far smiles on the Rossoneri, who count - between Serie A and Coppa Italia - nine victories (more than against any other opponent). AC Milan have ended their last three Serie A matches in a draw and could draw four in a row for the first time in the top division. This is the match between the team that scored more in percentage terms in the first half (AC Milan, 55% - 28/51) and the team that both in percentage and absolute terms scored more in the second half in the competition (Inter, 67% - 37/55). With the goal scored by Angelica Soffia in the last match played by the Rossoneri, the number of different scorers for AC Milan in this Serie A rises to 14. Two of the three youngest players who have scored more than one goal since the start of the second phase wear the jerseys of Inter and AC Milan: among the Nerazzurre Elisa Polli (three for the player born in 2000), among the Rossoneri Chanté Dompig (two for the player born in 2001).

WHERE TO WATCH AC MILAN ON TV
Inter v AC Milan will be broadcast live in Italy on Sunday 27 May at 14:30 CEST on La7, TIMVision and Milan TV. Don't miss the coverage on acmilan.com, the Rossoneri's official social channels and the AC Milan Official App where, from the following day, the full deferred broadcast will also be available on demand.

LATEST FROM THE WOMEN'S SERIE A
Michele Giordano of Novara will referee Inter v AC Milan. He will be supported by assistants Matteo Paggiola from Legnago and Nicola Morea from Molfetta. Fourth assistant will be Ettore Longo of Cuneo.

The two matches, valid for matchday 10 of the Championship round, which will end the 2022/23 Women's Serie A season, will be played at the same time. Both matches are scheduled, in fact, on Sunday 27 May at 14.30 CEST: on the pitch Inter v AC Milan and Juventus v Roma, rest week for Fiorentina.

Here are the current standings: Roma 67; Juventus 51; Fiorentina 42; AC Milan 41; Inter 39.
