THE ROSSONERE BOUNCE BACK WITH FOUR GOALS AGAINST POMIGLIANO

Brace from Asllani, goals from Stašková and Grimshaw: 4-1 to the Rossonere, first home victory

That was needed! A splendid afternoon at the PUMA House of Football which saw AC Milan Women return to winning ways, beating Pomigliano 4-1 with a great performance full of goals. A day of smiles, with first goals of the season for Kosovare Asllani, one in each half for the Swede, and Andrea Stašková as well as Christy Grimshaw's penalty in the final minutes. The Rossonere thus earned their second victory of the campaign, climbing up the standings and reaching the second international break of the season in the best way possible, also to the delight of the fans, many of whom present today.

A match approached with character and intensity (Asllani's first goal came after 2 minutes) and managed with personality in the final minutes when Pomigliano's sudden goal did not shake Ganz's team, rather they were able to close affairs with two more goals to maintain the advantage. To underline the continued threat from set-pieces, which has always been a strong point for the Rossonere, they were insidious from dead balls throughout the 90 minutes. All-round applause for the Rossonere's last match in October; next up will be the challenging away match at Fiorentina, Saturday 4 November at 15:00 CET.

MATCH REPORT
It didn't take long for the Rossonere to get their first chance: Marinelli crossed it into the middle for the run of Asllani whose shot brushed the outside of the post. This was a prelude of what was about to come: freekick from the right from Mascarello and a header from Kosovare to beat the opposing goalkeeper. Ganz's team continued to threaten from dead balls: in the 11th minute, Stašková's header, this one held by Buhigas. In the 14th minute, it was Giuliani who stretched to deny Nambi, and then 3 minutes later it was Buhigas who stopped Marinelli. After a great save from Giuliani from Ippolito at 26', the Rossonere doubled their advantage at the half-hour mark: Grimshaw-Asllani exchange before the Scot served the ball to Stašková for her first goal of the season. The pace slowed down after 2-0: at the end of the half, another reaction save from Giuliani, who batted away Szymanowski's free-kick.

The second half began with a triple change - Árnadóttir, Dompig and Soffia on - the guests had a lot of possession without troubling the Milan defence. Piga's 62nd-minute effort from a corner flew over the bar. Vigilucci was subbed on (making her return) and a speculative effort from Grimshaw ended in the bottom corner. One minute later, the guests struck with Martínez, well taken by Ippolito. The Rossoneri, however, did not tremble and restored the two-goal advantage in the 79th minute: Mascarello's free-kick towards Piga, the ball ended up on a plate for Asllani, who volleyed home for her second. The Swede came close to a hat-trick shortly after when Buhigas saved on the line, first from her and then Soffia's rebound. It was Grimshaw who finished off the match, with a penalty kick which she won in the dying minutes: it ended 4-1!
