REPORT
With respect to the draw with Empoli, Michelis returned at the centre of an AC Milan backline that looked dominant from the outset as the Rossoneri maintained a prolonged period of possession. Figerio and Di Gesù made their intentions known with two speculative efforts but the first real chance fell to Roback in the 16th minute, though Emil was bested by goalkeeper Fulanetto in the one-on-one. AC Milan churned through the gears and took the lead in the 28th minute. Capone swung the free-kick, Olzer controlled Obaretin's flick-on and slotted home for a deserved 1-0 lead. But Lazio responded and got level ten minutes later through Raul Moro, who converted a penalty after Di Gesù handled the ball in the six-yard boy. Before the break, Olzer had another go but headed just over the bar.
The second half began at a lower tempo than the first, with the hosts threatening on a couple of occasions through Castigliani, one of which was parried by a fabulous block from Obaretin in the six-yard box. AC Milan restored their lead on the hour mark; Olzer won the free-kick on the edge of the penalty area before slotting home with an outstanding curling effort, which left Furlanetto rooted to the spot. Lazio looked to be folding and the Rossoneri almost grabbed a third through N'Gbesso in the 67th minute. The hosts' final action of the game came with eight minutes of normal time remaining but Jungdal reacted splendidly to Raul Moro's effort, though the Rossoneri came ever closer through Di Gesù in the 85th minute and then both N'Gbesso and Olzer in injury time. It ended 2-1.
