PRIMAVERA BEATEN BY SAMP: 2-0 AT VISMARA

A home defeat for the Rossoneri, Siatounis' brace decides it: the Playoffs further away now

A second consecutive defeat for AC Milan Primavera, who lost 2-0 to a strong Sampdoria side. Siatounis scored either side of halftime to win it for the guests on matchday 26 of Primavera 1. The Rossoneri were likely affected by Wednesday's Derby defeat on a warm afternoon with few moments of action at Vismara.

This loss takes AC Milan means they are four points away from sixth place, the final playoff spot, with four games left. The Rossoneri will have a chance to claw their way back next Saturday as they travel to Ascoli, who are bottom and already relegated to Primavera 2.

REPORT
Coach Giunti brought Brambilla back into midfield and Carpone and Nasti flanked Olzer in the attacking three. The Rossoneri were on top at the start of the game and spurned a chance to take the lead in the 13th minute when Olzer found Coubis, who fired just wide. Samp responded by hitting the post through Ercolano in the 20th minute - though the game largely ground down into a cagey affair in midfield after this. Though the guests did take the lead in the 38th minute as Siatounis buried it from the edge of the box.

AC Milan started the second half well with a lot of possession - with Olzer and captain Brambilla playing a lovely one-two in the 51st minute. The first real chance of the half fell to Samp, though, and they took it with aplomb. Siatounis rifled it home, Jungdal had no chance (56'). Giunti made changes and AC Milan looked to get back into the game. N'Gbesso had a good impact off the bench and then found Obaretin, who fired straight at Saio. Then, Kerkez missed a chance to get a goal back following a brilliant central run (84'). It finished 2-0 to the guests.

POST-MATCH REACTION
"They were great at winning the 'moments' because the game was very equal until their first goal," said Federico Giunti. "Sometimes we don't manage to provoke these moments against the more physical sides and, instead, we get sucker punched. They went close a few times in the first half, which we also saw against Inter on Wednesday. Playing in a certain way, we needed to limit these risks and we paid for it with a loss. Credit to the boys for their attitude and for the fact that they never gave up - we deserved a goal"

"We close out this little run of games with a bit of regret because probably could have got something more," Giunzi continued as he spoke about the upcoming games. "We move forward. We still have four games left and we want to finish the season on a high. The boys have quality. It'll be difficult at Ascoli and we'll need to focus completely. From there, we have four games in a row, playing both at the weekend and in midweek. Playoff hopes are thinning out, I'll tell the guys to believe in it until the end: if we win every game, we can still hope for something."
