PRIMAVERA, GOALLESS IN GENOA

Genoa and AC Milan did battle and the spoils are shared: 0-0

AC Milan Primavera come away from Genoa with a point following a 0-0 with the young Grifoni. A draw was absolutely the right result after a hard-fought, tight battle between the two sides. The Rossoneri put in a good team performance, one replete with effort, sacrifice and attention. Chances were few and far between and both goalkeepers did brilliantly to keep the game scoreless. Following the undeserved Derby defeat, our boys needed to show a good reaction and they did just that, giving their all until the very end in their third match in the space of a week.

With the standings as tight as they are, the playoffs are still within reach even if the Rossoneri aren't in the best position (12th on 21 points). A draw, therefore, is not a bad result and should give the boys plenty of confidence for the next stage of the season. The fixtures are coming thick and fast and the Primavera are back in action at 15:00 CET on Wednesday 9 February as they travel to Bologna. The chances keep coming.

REPORT

Capone and Halili both got the nod as Giunti made two changes to the side that started in the Derby. The first half an hour of the game produced very little goal-mouth action; Calvani sent his shot wide (13') before Nasti tested Corci (22'). In the 30th minute, Desplanches then denied Besaggio. The AC Milan shot-stopper came up big three minutes later when he produced a stunning stop to keep out Buksa's effort and then Sahli on the rebound. It was then the Genoa goalkeeper Corci's turn to make a big stop as he blocked Nasti's close-range effort in the 37th minute. The Rossoneri then went on the offensive. A few seconds later, Stanga looked to turn it home but Nesci intervened; then, Gala's effort on the turn was kept out by another fabulous stop from Corci.

The battle recommenced the break as both teams kept up the intensity in midfield, neither letting the other side get a sniff in attack. The best moments for the hosts came to Buksa, who twice failed to hit the target (54', 60'). Chances for the Rossoneri, meanwhile, fell to Nasti, who fired wide following a good team move (56'), and El Hilali (64'). Giunti sent on some fresh legs in the form of Omoregbe and Rossi and, as the game wound to a close, the Rossoneri looked to get on the front foot but failed to break the deadlock. Omoregbe put the ball in the back of the net in injury time the play had already been whistled dead for a foul by Eletu. Full time.
