Born in Amsterdam on 6 January 1998, Kay-Lee de Sanders trained at Abcoude, a mixed team where she also played against former Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, as well as Buitenveldert and CTO Amsterdam. In 2017, she became a full member of Ajax's First Team, going on to enjoy eight important seasons (103 total appearances) with the Amsterdam side, during which she won two Eredivisie titles (2017/18 and 2022/23 under coach Suzanne Bakker), four Dutch Cups and one Eredivisie Cup. She joined AC Milan in the summer of 2025. Over the course of her career, she has also represented the Netherlands at Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
