Raised in the parish youth club of Travagliato in the Brescia plains, Franco Baresi joined AC Milan’s first team as a teenager during the 1977-78 season. A year later, at just 18, he celebrated his first league title, marking the Club’s tenth Scudetto and earning the iconic star on the Rossoneri jersey. Throughout his illustrious career, Baresi embodied unwavering loyalty, staying with AC Milan even during its most challenging years. As captain, he led the team under the guidance of Arrigo Sacchi and Fabio Capello to global dominance in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Baresi retired with an extraordinary record of 719 official matches and an impressive collection of trophies: 6x Serie A titles, 3x European Cups, 2x Intercontinental Cups, and 4x Italian Supercups. In honor of his legendary contributions, AC Milan retired the number 6 jersey. Celebrating 50 years with AC Milan in 2024, Baresi continues to represent the Club’s values as its Honorary Vice President, a role he has held since 2020. His dedication, leadership, and loyalty make him a living symbol of the Rossoneri spirit and an enduring icon in the history of world football.
