Acquired during the season from European champions Marseille with the purpose of strengthening the midfield, Marcel Desailly proved to be an essential pillar in Capello’s Milan that immediately won in spring 1994 the extraordinary double Scudetto-European Champion Clubs’ Cup. In the final in Athens against Cruijff’s Barcelona, the powerful French player, who later became a defensive midfielder, scored the final goal of the legendary 4-0 victory. With the Rossoneri he won a second league title, two Italian League Super Cups and a European Super Cup.
