ROSSONERI BEATEN BY CHELSEA IN JAKARTA

At the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, AC Milan were beaten by Chelsea in the third international friendly of their pre-season campaign. After draws against Celtic and Inter, the Rossoneri fell to a 3-0 defeat following a João Pedro brace and a goal from Caicedo, with all three coming either side of half-time. Alonso's decision not to go with the expected 4-2-3-1 paid off, as he instead mirrored Amorim's system, creating individual match-ups across the pitch that, particularly in the first half, saw the players track and largely cancel each other out.
One of the positives from the match was undoubtedly the Rossoneri debut of new signing Diawara, the 2006-born defender who came on in the second half. Milan have now completed their fixtures on the 2026 Pre-Season Tour in Australia and Indonesia, but there is still one more game to come before the start of the league season, against Manchester United, Amorim's former club. The Rossoneri will be back in action on Saturday 15 August in Wrocław, Poland, for their final test before the start of their competitive campaign.

Chelsea had the first real chance of the game, with Torriani denying João Pedro after 12 minutes. At the other end, Leão and Modrić both tried their luck, the former seeing his effort blocked and the latter failing to hit the target. Welbeck also fired a powerful but wayward left-footed effort after Palestra's forward run. Before the half-hour mark, Comotto struck from the edge of the box, with Caicedo deflecting his effort behind for a corner, while Torriani had to get down low to keep out Neto's accurate left-footed shot. The breakthrough for the English side came in stoppage time, João Pedro glancing home Caicedo's corner to send Chelsea into the break 1-0 up.
After a raft of Rossoneri changes, the Blues needed just two minutes to double their advantage. The Brazilian striker was on target again, peeling away from his marker and making the most of Neto's pass to make it 2-0. Three minutes later, Lavia's corner picked out Caicedo on the edge of the box, and the midfielder found the net with the outside of his boot. Palmer and Palestra both had attempts without seriously threatening, while substitute Quendah struck the outside of the post with 15 minutes remaining. In the 82nd minute, Ricci tried his luck with the outside of his boot but was unable to find the target, before Jackson hit the outside of the post and Torriani denied Estêvão. It finished 3-0.
