An integral part of the first team squad since the start of the season, and a player who is gaining experience from playing alongside his more experienced teammates and consequently improving every day; this has been the story of Matteo Gabbia’s season so far. After spending last season on loan at Lucchese, he went on to captain the Azzurrini at the U20 World Cup, playing a key role as Coach Paolo Nicolato’s team claimed fourth place at the tournament. An important experience for him and one that has helped him to earn a spot in the Rossoneri senior squad after climbing up through the youth teams. He really showcased his quality during the International Champions Cup, putting in impressive performances against both Bayern Munich and Benfica. He’s yet to play any minutes for the Rossoneri in official competitions so far this season, but his time will come. Matteo Gabbia celebrates turning 20 today and the whole Rossoneri world would like to wish him a happy birthday and many happy returns!
