AC MILAN REINFORCES ITS COMMITMENT IN THE PROMOTION OF GENDER EQUALITY

As part of the RespAct Manifesto which strives for social equity, equality and inclusivity, the club launches a series of permanent initiatives in support of gender equality

On the occasion of "International Women's Day", AC Milan is launching a series of initiatives to strengthen the organisation's commitment when it comes to promoting gender equality.

This is a sensitive issue that demands the utmost attention, as is highlighted by the research carried out by the Women in Football network in 2022, which has discovered that two in three women working in the football industry have been subject to sexist incidents in the workplace. However, only one in eight of these cases was reported. Half of the focus group felt that they were judged in the workplace, first and foremost by their appearance, rather than their skill set or abilities. It is feared that the aesthetic transformation over the years may well have an impact on their careers.

Intending to adopt a cultural transformation both inside and outside its own sector, the club has, in recent months, already dedicated several meetings to gender equality, with Tutti i colori dello sport created in a collaboration project with Banco BPM. The focus is to contribute to the social and civil education of secondary school students in Lombardy.

To further strengthen its commitments, the club has launched a series of initiatives involving the entire "AC Milan family" in this month of March.

In particular, the new weekly instalment of SHE on Milan TV, which begins this evening at 21:00 CET. In the show, several female personalities will be hosted in the Casa Milan Studios, to carry out passionate, thorough interviews, concerning their personal and professional lives. The show will also cover emotional, challenging issues which they, as women, encounter every day. The first guest will be Bebe Vio, a fantastic example and ambassador of sport for all.

In addition, the club also wants to improve the attention it gives to its employees and members. The #weallarefootball Manifesto refers to the ten-point guideline to help resolve gender conflict in the football and sporting world. For this occasion, Casa Milan will broadcast a discussion on 16 March, in which Elisabet Spina, Sporting Director for the Women's First Team, will enter the debate with renowned figures in the field of gender equality both inside and outside the world of football. These will include, Cristiana Capotondi, Chief Selector of the women's national team, Alessandra Kustermann, President of SVS Donna AiutaDonna Onlus and Simona Lanzoni, Vice President of Pangea Onlus.

With this in mind, AC Milan has also directly overseen changes to infrastructure and logistics to minimise the likelihood of uncomfortable situations, both for its staff and players. The club also consulted psychologists and professors, to develop a constructive approach to safeguard a healthy and welcoming environment for professional development, no longer tainted by gender prejudices.

AC Milan's commitment to promoting gender equality, reinforced by March's International Women's Day, is part of the multitude of values expressed by the RespAct Manifesto, striving for social equity, equality and inclusivity.
