FONDAZIONE MILAN AND FONDAZIONE MAMA SOFIA IN KINSHASA: CONTINUING THEIR COMMITMENT TO INCLUSION AND YOUTH SPORT

The social project with Fondazione Mama Sofia and a workshop with around 50 local coaches were at the heart of the Rossoneri delegation's visit to the Democratic Republic of the Congo

A delegation from Fondazione Mama Sofia and Fondazione Milan recently visited Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to meet with local institutions and stakeholders and reaffirm the continuation of a series of initiatives promoted as part of the partnership between the Club and the Congolese Government, aimed at supporting the country's socio-economic development.

Hosted by the Ambassador of Italy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dino Sorrentino, Fondazione Milan and Fondazione Mama Sofia presented the joint projects launched in the country to generate a tangible social impact for the local community. The meeting was enriched by testimonies from several representatives and workers linked to Mama Sofia, who work directly on the ground in the Congolese territory.

This season, the collaboration will lead to the construction of multidisciplinary laboratories and educational-recreational areas to expand the Institut Luca Attanasio, a school for 100 young people in Biabu, a village in the province of Kongo Central.  The project aims to offer educational and developmental opportunities in an environment that unites schooling, psychophysical well-being, and social inclusion for students. Therefore, the two foundations will strive to provide vocational training, economic independence, and public health services, with intervention plans also in the cities of Boma and Kinshasa.

The project is built on both foundations' shared values, such as inclusion, youth empowerment, and social responsibility, which are at the heart of the iniative. Fondazione Mama Sofia, which has been operating in the area for eight years, contributes to making the project more deeply embedded and sustainable through its direct engagement with local communities. The partnership between two foundations is centered on a shared commitment to the well-being of the younger generations, striving to promote positive and lasting change within the community.

Also in the Congolese capital, a Rossoneri delegation engaged around 50 local coaches in a workshop dedicated to sharing the principles, values, and methodologies of AC Milan Academy projects, with the aim of transferring specific skills through classroom theory sessions and practical sessions on the pitch with about 15 young players.

Leveraging the Club's role and its Foundation's ability to generate tangible impact for the community, the collaboration between AC Milan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo aligns with the objectives of the Mattei Plan for Africa and the Global Gateway, strategic cooperation and investment projects on the African continent promoted respectively by the Italian Government and the European Union.
