Being born on an island and supporting AC Milan from a very young age makes you realise how tough being a fan can be. As the years go by, your biggest dream is to go watch the team you love playing in its own stadium, San Siro. In 2014, after 43 years of waiting, I was finally able to make that dream a reality, along with my 17-year-old daughter who's as big a fan as I am. It was a Champions League match, AC Milan v Atletico Madrid, not our best showing.
The most unforgettable moment: arriving at San Siro and seeing the stadium all lit up like a spaceship, the fans queuing to get in at the turnstiles, the stairs leading to the home of all Rossoneri. I remember being paralyzed by the emotion of seeing the field and the flags of the Curva Sud. I can hear my daughter smiling and asking me if I was crying. I was, I was crying for the joy of finally feeling at home, among thousands of people just like me.

Longing makes the heart grow fonder, the saying held true for Pietro and the team of his heart. It took more than 40 years for the Sardinian native to finally see the Rossoneri play at the San Siro, and even though it the match decreed the team's exit from the Champions League, it was a night the Sardinian fan will never forget.
OP-ED is your personal Rossonero experience, your story, your first time, that match you can never forget, the emotions that have seared these colours into your soul.
