I’ve been a life-long Rossonero, but it wasn’t until I was 21 years old that I finally got to see them play at San Siro. I lived over 1000 km away, so travelling to a home game was a big endeavour and I remember it as if it was yesterday. AC Milan v Roma, 24 March 2012. A game we would win 2-1 with a brace from Zlatan. As Ibra scored his second, I couldn’t hold in my joy any more and passionately embraced a stranger who happened to be standing next to me. That first time at San Siro was an unforgettable moment, made better by the proximity of Champions League quarter-final first leg against Barcelona. I remember the Curva’s choreography, a depiction of PacMan, and the “Mangiamoli” banner (let’s devour them) and the 80 thousand people in the stands. Two thrilling matches, two unforgettable experiences.
