May 1987, the Stadio Comunale in Turin: the UEFA Cup play-off, AC Milan v Sampdoria. I was born in Turin, but I've been a Milanista from my first breath. It's a hot afternoon, and the Rossoneri fans are all crammed into the Curva Maratona, with this section of the stadium completely red and black. Emotion and tension fill the air, no one's ever seen this many Rossoneri in Turin. Extra time, scorching heat. Tassotti drives down to the byline, picks up his head and sends in one of his "diabolical" crosses. "Providence" Massaro throws himself at the ball and the net bulges by the Sampdoria fans. The Curva Maratona erupts, I still remember the hugs with all of those strangers, strangers who seemed like brothers for 120 minutes. And then, Capello with his fist raised towards us... it was the beginning of the Invincibles.

A memorable victory, perhaps less celebrated than other successes but still just as significant, because it started one of the most incredible winning streaks in the history of the game. Not just for the Rossoneri. Thank you to Alessandro for this memory, so beautiful and filled with Rossoneri hues.
