A goal from Correa early in the second half denied AC Milan a second consecutive appearance in the TIM Cup final, the third in four years. Lazio won 0-1 at San Siro which was enough following the goalless draw in the first leg to send them to the final at the Stadio Olimpico where they'll meet the winner of the tie between Atalanta and Fiorentina. Gattuso's Rossoneri gave their all on a tough night in front of a big crowd (61,045 a record for a Coppa Italia semi-final) and kept pushing for a comeback but Patrick Cutrone's disallowed goal in the 76th minute was the closest they came. With the cup run now over, Milan must turn attention back to the end of the league season and the race for a Champions League place, starting from the difficult trip to face Torino at 20:30 CEST on Sunday at the Stadio Grande Torino.

    REPORT

Gattuso sent his players out in a 3-4-3 formation with Mattia Caldara back starting in the middle of defence, 216 days since his last appearance. Lazio started aggressively with Immobile and Correa forcing saves from Reina in the 26th and 27th minutes. The Rossoneri's first sight of goal was in the 28th minute when Strakosha made a fantastic save from Calabria's left-foot strike. In the 44th minute, Suso missed from the edge of the box as an excellent chance was wasted. In stoppage time, Bastos had Reina scrambling after some confusion in the box following a Correa effort. At the start of the second half, Lazio went close three times through Leiva, Bastos and Correa again. The Argentine opened the scoring on the break in the 58th minute, firing beyond the onrushing Reina. Gattuso turned to Cutrone and Calhanoglu, the latter picked Piatek out in the 70th minute but his header went just wide. In the 76th minute, Cutrone headed in from a Suso cross but it was disallowed for offside and Milan's hopes of progressing ended there.
