A 1-1 draw to start the new season. At the PUMA House of Football, AC Milan and Como Women shared the spoils in their opening game of the second edition of the Serie A Women's Cup. Kanutte's first goal for the Club gave the Rossonere an early lead as part of an impressive individual display, but Borbye levelled the scores with a superb strike in the second half. On balance, the result was a fair reflection of the game and of what both sides created, although Coach Bakker's team will rue Arrigoni's missed opportunity to put them back in front.
It is still very early days, with the 2026/27 campaign only just underway. While there is naturally still room for improvement in terms of fitness, the Rossonere - wearing the shirt featuring the patch dedicated to Franco Baresi - showed plenty of encouraging signs. The opening matchday of this cup competition, a precursor to the league season, brought a point to build on. AC Milan sit second in the standings, level with Como Women, while Juventus top Group C on three points following their win. Next weekend, on Saturday 29 August at 20:30 CEST, the Rossonere will be back at the PUMA House of Football to face Como 1907.

MATCH REPORT
Kanutte made a flying start. After putting the goalkeeper under pressure moments earlier, Sara opened the scoring in the fourth minute: Sorelli found Grimshaw, whose excellent ball into the heart of the area was met by the Norwegian, who turned like a true striker and beat Gilardi with a low left-footed finish. In the eleventh minute, Nielsen's flick in a crowded penalty area went narrowly wide. Kyvåg then had an effort blocked (14'), before Grimshaw fired over three minutes later. It was a fast-paced, hard-fought contest. After a spell with little attacking action, Arrigoni forced Gilardi into a save at the end of a good counter-attack. 1-0 at the break.
In the 49th minute, Nischler tried her luck from distance, with Estévez making the save. Como stepped up the pressure, and Zamboni squandered a great chance just before the hour mark, failing to make clean contact. There was little goalmouth action until a frantic finish. In the 79th minute, Mascarello crossed for Stokić, who failed to hit the target. The Lariane equalised a minute later through Borbye, who pounced on a loose clearance on the edge of the box and sent a first-time effort into the bottom corner. With 88 minutes on the clock, Grimshaw got a touch on a corner, with the ball bouncing dangerously close to the line before being cleared. AC Milan had a golden opportunity in the 89th minute as Grimshaw played it wide to Renzotti, whose cut-back found Arrigoni, but she was unable to keep the ball down. Zamboni threatened in stoppage time before the game ended 1-1.
