After the resumption of the U19 (in January) and U18 (at the end of February) divisions, the U17s will soon return to action. Indeed, the FIGC recently confirmed that the league will restart from 11 April with a new format involving all 40 Serie A and B sides.
The teams have been divided into eight groups made up of five sides. Every team will play home and away matches against their group opponents for a total of eight fixtures each. Every group winner will qualify for the final phase, which will consist of the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. All of these matches will be straight knockout ties.
Coach Lantignotti's team will thus take to the pitch on Sunday 11 April, when they’ll host Cremonese at Vismara. The Rossoneri will then return to action on 25 April, a day which will see them face Inter, who will be the home side, in the Derby. On 2 May, the Diavolo will take on Cagliari at Vismara, while an away match against Monza will follow seven days later.
The second half of the group stage will begin on 16 May and will conclude on Sunday 13 June, when the Rossoneri are scheduled to play Monza at Vismara. Therefore, the season will initially be condensed into two months, a period which will provide opportunities for the group to grow. Talking of growth, Gabriele Alesi's ascension to the Primavera has been something to celebrate. Born in 2004, the young talent will be a key part of AC Milan’s youth setup in the next few years.
