Seven wins and seven defeats, 17 goals scored and 17 conceded: AC Milan Primavera’s record is certainly a balanced one so far. This is also reflected by the Rossoneri’s position: they sit level on points with eighth-place Atalanta (24) and thus find themselves in midtable in the 16-team league.
From the statistics, a few important observations can be made. First, the Diavolo have one of the best defences in the division. In attack, however, they’re performing below average compared to their opponents. The Rossoneri, who are just two points away from the playoff zone, have drawn just three times – one of the lowest totals in the league.
Another big showdown awaits on matchday 18: Coach Giunti’s lads are preparing to host Juve at 13:00 CEST on Saturday 10 April at Vismara. When they come up against the Bianconeri, they’ll be looking to build on the excellent point they picked up away to Atalanta last time out and, in general, a four-game unbeaten run, with signs of growth being seen on an individual and collective level.
The Rossoneri’s upcoming opponents have fared slightly better so far: they sit on 26 points with a game in hand and narrowly defeated AC Milan earlier on in the season. But in that 1-0 defeat in Vinovo, which was the Diavolo’s final fixture before the season temporarily came to a halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Rossoneri certainly held their own. Indeed, prior to Pisapia’s late winner, Di Gesù hit the post, and Capone and Tonin both had great chances.
