The best start possible. The season restarted for Coach Christian Lantignotti's Under 17s last weekend with a splendid win over Cremonese. The match at Vismara ended 2-0 to the Rossoneri, who scored a goal in each half: Leonardo Rossi opened the scoring in the 9th minute, while the substitute Landry Boni closed out the scoring by doubling the lead in the 66th minute.
A great way to start off a new season in the Allievi Nazionali, which will adopt a brand new formula for this season, different from previous editions. Eight groups of five teams (in addition to Cremonese, AC Milan will also play Cagliari, Inter, and Monza) from which only first place from each group will advance to the Final Phase, the title of Italian Champion will be decided.
The very concentrated new formula could also encourage a rapid growth for Lantignotti’s talented class of 2004. A gifted group of players, they were also joined in last Sunday's match by three Under 16s of the class of 2005: Baricchio, Bartesaghi, and Zeroli, with the latter being given the opportunity to make his debut, coming on and putting in a positive display for the last quarter of an hour in the match against Cremonese.
Looking ahead for the young Rossoneri, they will now avail of ten days of rest, as this weekend AC Milan have the first of their two bye weeks. The next match will therefore be the first round Derby against Inter, who won 4-0 in their opening match against Monza. The Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri will meet on Sunday 25 April.
