A little over a month into the season, and AC Milan U17 are already at the halfway point. The new formula for finishing this season has made everything very fast and dynamic: up to now, the Rossoneri youngsters, led by Lantignotti, have played three of their 8 league games, winning two and drawing one. They have scored 7 goals, conceding just 2. This puts them top of the table, with 7 points. More importantly, it shows a squad in great form.
Last April, these players returned to the pitch after the break for a strange league season, both in how late it came and in the particular form that the tournament took on. For this year, 8 rounds had to be made, using the 5 teams in the league, who will all play home and away games. Based on these games, the top teams will qualify for the Final Faze. The Rossoneri, then, have made a fast start.
The signs are encouraging, as are the performances. In their last game, they beat Monza 3-0, their biggest win the of season, thanks to goals from Gala, Montalbano and Anane. They had previously won 2-0 at Cremonese in their season opener and then drew 2-2 in the Derby. Cagliari are the only team that they are yet to face.
Forward, Leonardo Rossi, remains the side’s top-scorer, fresh from his first selection for the Primavera when they travelled to Empoli: he was on the bench. This weekend, Sunday 16 May at 15:00, they host Cremonese. Our U17s will hope to keep pushing forward with another positive result in that one.
