An unbeaten month. From the 3-1 home win over Turin, to a 1-0 away conquest at SPAL. AC Milan’s Primavera side are currently going through their best period of form right at the business end of the season - and they will want to keep it going. This is purely and simply the consequence of a continual pushing in the right direction by the squad, irrespective of situation or opponent. In particular, at Ferrara, they recorded their first away win since the end of January.
After the loss to Fiorentina (1-3) at the start of March, the Rossoneri have changed their fortunes, finding precious continuity that has allowed them to turn good performances - which they’ve put in all season - into good results. One, often overlooked, positive statistic which speaks for their current good league run is that they’re in seventh place but are now only 1 point off the Playoffs.
In their last league game, they took a vital three points off a direct rival, showing their grit by scoring at the death thanks to a wonderful El Hilali free-kick. The goals from Youns have really been the common denominator in their good form. From his brace against Torino to that goal against SPAL: he is a difference-maker, as Olzer was previously against Sassuolo, Empoli and Lazio (2-1, again thanks to a free-kick). The two, dangerous front-men have both reached double figures, sitting on 10 goals apiece.
Next weekend, Saturday 22 May, they visit Vismara to play Bologna, at 17:00. Then, the midweek Derby looms; the side are reaching big games that represent important tests to overcome. One month from the end of the league season, the signs are encouraging, and this quality group of players have a big opportunity.
