For the Milan U17s, now comes the glory after a fantastic (mini) league campaign. The win over Monza, 2-0 in Vismara thanks to goals from Luscietti and Anane, confirmed top spot for the Rossoneri, who were already all but certain to finish first from last weekend; this has also ensured qualification for the Finals which will decide who wins the U17 Scudetto. This Class of 2004 are pure class.
Five wins, seventeen points, and twenty goals in eight games from the first part of the season, two short, intense months in which the team has shown quality and personality. Now the U17s will play the quarter finals of the knockout phase away at Genoa on Sunday 20 June at 16:00. If its a draw at full-time, the game will go to extra time and penalties. The semi-final is scheduled for Thursday 24 June at 16:00 (location to be confirmed) and the final is on Tuesday 29 June (time to be confirmed) at Benelli Stadium in Ravenna.
Coach Christian Lantignotti exclusively talked to us about the plan to go to the end: “It has been a tough group stage, we have achieved a target that we deserved. The boys played well each game, always up to the task. Against Genoa, it could go either way, and we hope to play our best. We will see what happens, may the best team win”.
Potentially three, decisive games from the finish line, the team must approach each one with required energy to try to achieve their dream. The three other quarters are: SPAL-Atalanta, Crotone-Roma and Bologna-Benevento; all these sides are strong, but can be faced without fear. The collective spirit and individual talents will give the side, already satisfied by what it has done and the journey behind it, what it needs.
