FROM BERGAMASSIST TO BERGAGOAL

With the captain's armband on, she has set the example for the rest of the team. Valentina Bergamaschi has started 2022 at the top of her game, scoring in 3 of the first 4 games played. The move forward in the tactical chessboard of Mister Ganz has certainly influenced her newfound scoring streak.

The 3-4-3 introduced in recent outings has seen the advancement of Vale Berga in-between the attacking trio upfront, as well as the arrival of Alia Guagni. With more freedom to attack, more runs forward and less ground to cover on the pitch: to make an early judgement from these first few matches, the plan is indeed working.

Three goals in four matches, as we were saying: the first with a header in the semi-final of the Supercoppa against Roma, the second from a great right-footed shot against Verona, the last was another header, this time against Samp. Although her 22 assists in her first three and a half seasons at the club have earned her the nickname 'Bergamassist', this scoring rate is a novelty for her. 

Last year she ended with 2 goals in the championship, 1 goal in 2019/20 and 2 in 2018/19, her debut season in a Rossonero jersey. Valentina has been the guiding light for the Rossonere, who have kicked off 2022 giving promising signs for the future. With a fresh spirit and new faces taking centre stage, but above all with another Bergagoal.
