It was a good weekend for AC Milan’s U16s. Against Venezia, they came away with their second consecutive 4-1 away win (after previously beating Vicenza by the same scoreline on the road), while also returning to the top of the table following Atalanta’s defeat. Abate’s side have 29 points after 13 matchdays and sit one point ahead of Atalanta, Inter and Hellas Verona in a very open and exciting championship.
Despite what the result suggests, it wasn’t easy-going in Venice. Indeed, all of the Rossoneri’s goals came in the second half, with Sia, Manto, Martinazzi and Tezzele getting on the scoresheet. Nevertheless, it was an excellent performance that saw the team build on their excellent numbers in attack: with 44 goals to their name, the Diavolo have netted the most goals by some distance in the league (an average of more than three a game).
The group didn’t miss the opportunity to collect three important and much-needed points, with things not always having gone to plan in 2022: before the latest victory, the Rossoneri had suffered two successive 3-2 home defeats against Hellas Verona and Atalanta. It was a case of certain incidents not going their way, because desire and character have never been lacking.
Our U16s have thus responded excellently to a few difficulties, a natural step for a high-quality group that is growing. On Sunday afternoon, AC Milan v Pordenone will be played at Vismara (the reverse fixture finished 2-0 thanks to goals from Scotti and Grilli). It’s another test that the team will be looking to pass.
