The draw with Brescia and the defeat to SPAL in the last round of fixtures have slowed the Rossoneri’s momentum. Previously, they’d won all their games in 2022, including the derby. But, given that they’re just one point adrift of the leaders Atalanta and four ahead of third-place Inter, it’s not the right time to look back for the Rossoneri, who, instead, can push on with greater confidence.

It’s a group that has maintained excellent standards all season, so much so that some of its players look ready to make the step up. Victor Elutu and Alessio Piantedosi are two youngsters who have started to get a feel for the Primavera setup.

Looking at possible opponents that could emerge from the other groups, especially with direct qualification to the quarter-finals in mind, Group A is particularly interesting, with Bologna, Genoa, Juventus and Fiorentina separated by just four points. Group C isn’t quite so tight: Roma and Lazio are seven and five points ahead of third-place Benevento, respectively.
