UNDER 16: SITTING IN FIRST AHEAD OF THE DERBY

Three consecutive wins after two defeats against direct rivals. Coach Ignazio Abate’s U16s have bounced back in style and sit top of the table on 35 points, one ahead of Atalanta and four in front of Inter and Hellas Verona. In their last match, they ran out 3-0 winners away to Udinese after thrashing Pordenone 7-0 at Vismara the week before.
Ten scored and zero conceded in their last two matches. With 54 goals to their name, the Rossoneri have the best attack by some distance, not just in their league but across all the U16 divisions. In terms of the goalscoring charts, two AC Milan players are in the top three positions: Diego Sia is dominating with 20, while Luca Martinazzi is third with eleven.
Just three games of the regular season remain, and the next one is extremely important: the derby against Inter. A win would eliminate the Nerazzurri from the race for the top two, with the teams in first and second directly progressing to the round of 16.
The league season will come to an end with games against Brescia and Cittadella. Then, the team’s attentions will turn to the knockouts, which will involve playing ties over two legs with the exception of the final (at a neutral venue).
