Vismara Sports Centre, 3 October 2021. The clock was at the 43-minute mark in AC Milan v Juventus in the Women's Primavera Championship. Monico Renzotti took the free-kick, which was not only the decisive goal but also the first competitive goal for AC Milan Women's Primavera. The goal was the beginning of a rivalry, which will be renewed this afternoon with the return fixture as top spot in Group 1 is up for grabs.

Juventus and AC Milan have been brilliant so far this season. The Bianconere have - apart from the loss at Vismara - won 15 and drawn one, while the Rossonere are the only unbeaten team left this campaign with 14 wins and three draws (Hellas Verona, Tavagnacco and Inter. Juve have the best attack with 87 goals scored and AC Milan have the best defence with just ten conceded, and the two sides meet for this rearranged matchday 13 fixture, which was pushed back after the Rossonere were involved in the 2022 Viareggio Cup.

"On a sporting level, it's been a very important season. We've enjoyed many fantastic moments, also because of the harmony and cohesion within the team," said Coach Davide Corti. "Together with the Club and staff, we've created a group that makes us very proud. The girls have always displayed great willingness and full commitment, meaning it's been a year full of improvement and formative moments. For example, there was the Viareggio Cup, which allowed us to compare ourselves to international sides and was an enriching experience for the players."

Heading into the game in Vinovo, the Rossonere really do have the wind in their sails: last weekend, they won 10-0 away to Brescia (hat-tricks for Renzotti and Miotto), while they've emerged victorious from all their matches in the second half of the season so far. "We'll play our upcoming matches with the same passion and determination that has characterised us throughout the season," concluded Corti, also referring to the other fixtures that remain in the regular season. AC Milan also have to face Tavagnacco, Inter, Como and Pro Sesto, and then the finals await.
