AC Milan’s U16s are into the semi-finals after a 5-2 aggregate victory over Monza. After the Rossoneri’s 4-2 win in the first leg, Scotti scored the only goal in the return fixture at Vismara to ensure that Abate’s side made it safely through. Another two games await before a potential Scudetto final.
After finishing top during the regular season and knocking out Benevento in the round of 16 before overcoming Monza, the Diavolo are taking it one step at a time. Now, they’re preparing for their next two-legged tie. The team’s next opponents are Vicenza, who dug in to get the better of Fiorentina in the last round. AC Milan will be the home side for the first leg on 12 June, with the return match scheduled a week later.
The two teams have already faced each other in Group B this campaign: the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season finished 1-1, while AC Milan then won the return game 4-2 thanks to a Sia hat-trick and a goal from Martinazzi. With four goals to his name, the latter has been the Rossoneri’s top scorer during the knockout stages after previously finding the net eleven times during the regular season.
More hard work is coming up for the Diavolo, who also need to recharge their batteries and remain attentive and united. Mancioppi and Bonomi won’t be involved in Vicenza v AC Milan after their red cards in the latest victory, but, as always, the team’s strength will need to lie in the collective.
