Mission accomplished for the Women’s U17 team. Sofia Sperduto’s 31st-minute goal secured a draw against Su Planu, a Sardinian side based in Cagliari, and mathematically sealed the Rossonere’s place in the National Finals, where they’ll compete to win the Scudetto.
AC Milan finished second in Group 1 of the Interregional Phase on ten points, with Juventus finishing top following five wins from five. The Rossonere’s last-gasp 3-2 win against Sampdoria thanks to Noemi Polillo’s goal in added time ultimately proved decisive.
Indeed, Samp finished on nine points, one less than AC Milan, meaning that goal made all the difference. It’s now time for the final phase of the season, which the eight best teams nationally will take part in.
The first step will be the two-legged quarter-finals, which will take place over the next two weekends (4/5 June and 11/12 June) against Inter. Should they progress, AC Milan would be involved in the Final Four, which is scheduled to take place between 22 and 25 June.
