Mister Bertuzzo's Under-15s earned a precious advantage in their semi-final first leg after sealing a 1-0 win over Roma at Vismara. A goal thanks to Francesco Camarda early in the second half has given the youngsters a slight advantage to take to the second leg in Rome. The Rossoneri looked solid throughout, after a tightly-contested first half, taking the lead from a corner to sway the two-legged tie in their favour.
A satisfied Coach Bertuzzo already has one eye on the return leg: "We came up against a great team who caused us some problems, despite not creating much. In the second half, we re-organised ourselves and as well as the goal, we created several other good chances. Now, we go to their place, a tough place to play, that is sure to test our character. We need to be able to play the same type of game, but with more bravery and positivity".
Both teams finished top of their respective groups, with AC Milan finishing on 41 points in Group B and Roma in Group D on 42 points. Two out of the three possible results will suffice for the rossoneri to reach the final, whilst a Giallorossa victory by the same scoreline would take the tie to two ten-minute halves of extra-time. In the result of a draw, penalties will not be taken, insted the highest placed team in the rankings would go through to the final.
The youngsters have a slender but valuable lead, as the team prepares for the visit to Agostino De Bartolomei Sports Centre in Rome. The game is to be played on Sunday 19 June at 11:00 CEST. Up for grabs is a place in the prestigious final on 24 June against the winner of the other semi-final between Fiorentina and Bologna, currently 1-1 after the first leg.
