AC Milan U17s’ Scudetto dreams are over: in the semi-finals, Bologna ran out 1-0 winners (Ravaglioli with the goal after 28 minutes) in Fermo following an even affair where the Rossoneri deserved more.
The Diavolo made a promising start without, however, creating any clear-cut opportunities. Then, Bologna scored with their first chance of the match. Both Mangiameli (a header that finished just over the bar) and Rossi (a shot that was cleared off the line by the Rossoblù defence) came close, but ultimately it wasn’t to be.
But this narrow defeat doesn’t erase what has been a great season for the team. They led the way during the regular season, recording four wins over direct rivals Inter and Atalanta. Then, they managed to overcome the latter in the quarter-finals following a tight two-legged tie.
Everyone deserves a round of applause for their work. First, credit should go to the technical staff members, who also helped the U17s reach the National Finals during the very difficult 2020/21 campaign. And then we have the players, some of whom have already made their Primavera debuts, whether in the league or the UEFA Youth League. Undoubtedly, many others will make the planned step up to the U18s next year.
